The K-Tel Scrolls
And verily, an angel spake unto me and sayeth: "Hey, did you know you have this K-Tel mini catalog dealie in one of your records?"
"No, uh, guess I did and forgot . . . "
"Well, maybe you should scan this and share it online." And the angel drew forth a flaming sword and with bright and shining countenance sayeth, "Yeah, maybe on unterkayness."
"That old ghost blog . . . "
"Yeah, sure, why not?"
Anyway, there's too much here for any one person to unpack with words. Idea is that several world religions will begin here with you all's close reading and interpretation of say, the 8-track tape selector. Or the "try it in a t-shirt" um, T-shirt.
Be fruitful and multiply (clicketh to crazily embiggen/see these really big scans):

Well past the parochial brouhaha regarding Milli Vanilli, supah autotuned vocals and other quaint pop music simulations, the HRP-4C Gynoid brings us all the way to Stepford.
Soon enough the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame will have Iggy droids and Roy Orbitrons doing silicon moves.
Meanwhile, I'll be rewatching Blade Runner and hoping to fit in.
As seen on Waveformless.
If too intense, try this video of Hunter Thompson and a Hell's Angel on Canadian TV. Seen on Pathway To Unknown Worlds.

the littlest browncoat
PCL LinkDump posted about this fun, tripped out Man from U.N.C.L.E. fan fiction staged with dolls.
Evidently, the good folks at Tonner Doll Company have whole worlds of character dolls. Including characters from Firefly.
Yes, Mal (browncoat sold separately), Inara (sold out), Zoë and the man they call Jayne.
No sign of/word about Wash, Book, Kaylee, Simon or River Tam. And as these are figure dolls, probably no chance of there being a scale model of Serenity.

the greatest films never made
This page of movie posters from an alternate universe has been making the rounds on the strength of this poster alone.
But I say go there and see how hard it is to pick a favorite. This. So. Rocks.
Okay, okay, my faves (admittedly based on obscure name checking and/or none-too-subtle dislocations):
Andrei Tarkovsky's Micronauts, featuring James Brolin, Tom Selleck and the music of Wendy Carlos.
Ghostbusters, 1960s style, with Vincent Price, Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, a demon possessed Bette Davis and the music of Henry Mancini.
The Star Wars with Malcolm McDowell, Jacqueline Bisset, Cheech and Chong (as the Droids), music by Bernard Herrmann, direction by Alejandro Jodorowsky, screenplay by Norman Mailer.

Whether you're a fan of Neil, this song or the leggy womens herein, this will break your brain six ways from Sunday.
And to entirely overdo things so as to avoid a third Scopitone post in about as many weeks, two more for the road. Offered without context . . .

As one might read on son of the forest, artist John Borowicz is having a show, Sprawling Conglomerates, at Adam Baumgold Gallery.
It's his first solo in NYC and runs through August 4th.

(more than) two sides of Cathode Ave
1. the burning forest of the what?
Warning: there's disco, nudity and vast amounts of green screening. But given the bubbling semiotic stew herein, you'll be entirely too spun to be afeared or affronted. No brain will emerge unbroken. From the parallel universe loosely known as Italia '78 via the brave ironists of Chateau Thombeau.
2. rain and the polymer leaf
Zimoun dances the metal zephyr and the flailing arc at Disquiet.
3. guiding traffic from a deep space median
A friend found this bit of future fun as prognosticated in 1966 and reviewed by the good folks at Monster Movie Music.

Act now and you'll intercept this pixel cloud on a Pathway To Unknown Worlds.

well prepared
Extended Piano from Stephen Cornford on Vimeo.
A kinetic sound sculpture. Two guitar strings are attached to two bass strings of an upright piano. Mechanised bows play the guitar strings, whose vibrations resonate sympathetically through the whole piano. The sound is entirely acoustic.
Actually the above, cool as it is, is my second favorite. Works For Turntable posted here by Everyday Listening you really gotta see. And hear.

The Holy Mountain is my new favorite film and the filmmaker, Alejandro Jodorowsky, my new hero.
The movie's much better than the trailer lets on. But the trailer does show enough of the over-the-top scenes so one might say "yes, looks cool" and "no, don't show it to the kids or Auntie Bess".
Thanks to far hipper folks at GLOWING RAW and exp etc for shining the light long & brightly enough to dawn on these far shores of Marblehead.

Before my drifting into suspended animation, those two words will beat out "Rosebud".
As seen thanks to PCL LinkDump, the whole crazed thing called The Gobbler. Go now.

"In today’s struggling economy you need to wear clothes, why don’t you wear these clothes?"
Kindertrauma is selling t-shirts.
Now I'm cheap & fully dressed. But maybe you need a t-shirt with a scary clown on it.
Or you need a laugh.
Either way, it's your move.

Not when you're reading one of the world's most awesomest blogs, I'm Learning To Share!
This time 'round, ev'rything from non-peeps to woolies to WalMart to Loudon Wainwright III to Soupy Sales to unsung lyrics of TV theme songs and more.
Those who doubt it need only click.
