PCL LinkDump posted about this fun, tripped out Man from U.N.C.L.E. fan fiction staged with dolls.
Evidently, the good folks at Tonner Doll Company have whole worlds of character dolls. Including characters from Firefly.
Yes, Mal (browncoat sold separately), Inara (sold out), Zoë and the man they call Jayne.
No sign of/word about Wash, Book, Kaylee, Simon or River Tam. And as these are figure dolls, probably no chance of there being a scale model of Serenity.

the greatest films never made
This page of movie posters from an alternate universe has been making the rounds on the strength of this poster alone.
But I say go there and see how hard it is to pick a favorite. This. So. Rocks.
Okay, okay, my faves (admittedly based on obscure name checking and/or none-too-subtle dislocations):
Andrei Tarkovsky's Micronauts, featuring James Brolin, Tom Selleck and the music of Wendy Carlos.
Ghostbusters, 1960s style, with Vincent Price, Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, a demon possessed Bette Davis and the music of Henry Mancini.
The Star Wars with Malcolm McDowell, Jacqueline Bisset, Cheech and Chong (as the Droids), music by Bernard Herrmann, direction by Alejandro Jodorowsky, screenplay by Norman Mailer.

As seen on Pathway To Unknown Worlds.
Ghosts of the future convene in this ectoplasmic assemblage of pixels & sound.
Cathode irradiation of weeks spent curled by the icy warmth of the set waiting for this show to finally come on.
And here it comes bearing the vestments of Jerry Lee and Tristan Tzara. Ready, set, go.

I may remember this balmy bit of metafiction. It seems familiar. Or may've just read something like it in MAD.
But it's thanks to the good folks at Pleasant Valley Shopping who just posted this and other Montgomery Ward goodness.

I love this theme song and this cover/video treatment thereof. 'Nuff said.
'Cept the above was found whilst in search of a scene from Modesty Blaise where a street organ is playing the theme song (as street organs would in movies gone by).
And that came to mind becsuse of this hi-fi Barrel Organ.

I'm saving some of these great ads to watch after my periodontal appointment. But that's no reason for the rest of you to hold back.
Many thanks to the post-Fabulonian cabal who power The Hair Hall of Fame for sharing this Salt Lake Community College Cosmetology ad. After you've tipped your stylist, you can catch the making-of video here for add'l context/laughter.
And now another word or two or three from our sponsors . . .

out of their damn minds
The folks at PCL LinkDump post two videos that'll work some mighty voodoo: one of sonic DIY buzziness and another of one Bill (Wm. Burroughs) shooting another (Wm. Shakespeare).
An old compat musician/writer Michael W. Dean seeks not the Trail of the Lonesome Pine, but that of the Libertarian Punk out Wyoming way. And one day finds guns, bison and steam (if not in that order).
And he who has brought forth the planet that was FABULON, Chateau Thombeau and Wunderkammer sires within the without. Not crazy, per se. But adhering to the mind of no mind with the beautiful images and such.
Oh, wait--from A Basement of Curiosities, a man, his LP and a story . . .
